The Austin 500/555!
The Rules:
500cc or less
$500 or less on purchase and repair*
from MPLS to AUS, summer 2012**
on a bike @ least as old as Dillon (1984)***
*Safety consumables do not count toward the $500 limit - eg tires, brake pads, and chains
**Exact dates TBD. Route TBD - generally avoiding interstate roads is about 1250 miles. Following the Mississippi all the way down and then over to Austin is about 1650 miles.
***If we wanted to stay true to the original spirit of such an event, it would have to 1975 or older.
Add a sidecar and a human being and your allowable budget doubles.
Leave your heaping pile of sh!t in Austin and fly back, ride it back, or trailer/truck it back--your call.

Sounds like a plan! 500cc a must. Age negotiable. I like the 1975 rule but maybe a modification to the rule would be permissible.
