interesting gs factoid of the day:
the third phase o' power (of three) coming from the stator is un-regulated.
perhaps the cause of my overcooked batteries?! maybe i should be remembering to run with my high beam on all the time?
i am off to the garage to do some tests.

Twist it into one of the other phases.
or what if you put a switch inline - that way you can shut it off, and not connect to anything unless you need it to charge the battery. maybe just have it on for around town, slow speed stuff, but when i am burning up the hwy, i could have it turned off so it doesn't cook the battery due to high revs of high speed riding. i haven't really looked into this idea. i am assuming it wouldn't damage the stator coils if one of the wires was just not hooked up to anything half the time, right?
thoughts? let me have 'em.
off to hillside for some mtb action for now. picking up a new battery on the way home from that.
